Commercial practice

CDs and DVDs are EVERYWHERE. As new technology emerges, CDs and DVDs are becoming unwanted and obsolete daily. Businesses have been able to reduce paper usage by using CDs and DVDs to store, market or distribute information about your product. Whether your discs are marketing propaganda, or secure data back-ups, they need to have a page in your business’s sustainability handbook. We can simply state:

“In your business, if you use, sell, promote, distribute, or manufacture compact discs, it is your responsibility to promote how to recycle them. Compacts Discs, when recycled properly, will stop unnecessary pollution, conserve natural resources, and help our environmental substantially."

If security is a concern, please watch our [about proper destruction] presentation.

BEWARE! There are many companies that charge for disposal and destruction services, and claim proper “recycling” of the product post destruction. They utilized “saw cutting”, “notch cutting”, “hole punching”, and “total package shredding”. They then bale these discs and place them out to bid to many other companies that generally export your product to a foreign country with little to no security to be offered past this point. These methods ARE NOT 100% data secure, package destructive, or environmentally friendly. Ultimately, the remaining product from these methods do not result in 100% reclamation.

If you have any questions or concerns about your current disc recycling program, or how to implement one in your sustainability program, please contact us, we’re here to help.
